Looking Toward The Future

The Steampunk Empire

Good evening. I've been so busy and swamped lately. So, this is going to be a much shorter blog than usual. Today, I just want to point out a really useful and fun social networking site for steampunk enthusiasts. It's called The Steampunk Empire. Think of it like Facebook for the steampunk subculture.

Are you a steampunk clothing designer who's looking for clients? Perhaps, you're a steampunk author who wants to meet other writers. You might be steampunk maker who wants to show amazing gadgets and gizmos to the world. Are you searching for steampunk conventions and festivals? Maybe you're just a steampunk fan who doesn't know other science fiction geeks in the local area. This is the right website for you. The Steampunk Empire allows you to make a personal account, chat with other members of the site, join niche groups, etc.

Members can join groups by region or personal interest. For example, I'm a member of the Scribbler's Den. It's a very active group for steampunk writers. If you want to write steampunk fiction, the members of this group can give some pointers. For experienced writers, members of the Den can give useful critiques and marketing advice. I also noticed some of the groups are geared toward crafters and designers. Other groups are just for fun.

If you want to join, make an account through the website. It's completely free. Keep in mind, your membership needs to be approved. It took two months for them to approve my membership, so I have to admit the process is slow for some people. Luckily, it's worth the wait. I think the Empire has more active members than most steampunk networking sites. Overall, members of the Empire seem like a friendly and helpful group.

I'm going to leave a link for the website. If you have any questions, leave a comment. Maybe some of you guys will think about joining the Empire. We would love to see you. :)
