Good evening! It's really good to see you guys again, even though the weather keeps heating up. Those of you who live outside of the American Southwest are lucky. Los Angeles only has two seasons; Summer and Winter. Spring and Autumn don't exist in my territory. Anyway, let's talk about video games! I thought Sony gave a typical PlayStation State of Play with some really cool announcements. A few of my predictions were actually true. The Summer Games Fest will end on Sunday, June 12th with Microsoft's Xbox and Bethesda showcase at 10:00 a.m. PST. I'm giving you another round of predictions and a few highlights from PlayStation's State of Play
PlayStation State of Play Recap I actually got a few predictions right, including one or more really surprising elements. The next generation of PlayStation VR was featured, although I expected more details. Sony announced four VR games, so it still counts. If you’re a fan of VR, keep watching for Resident Evil Village, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners- Retribution, No Man’s Sky, and Horizon Call of the Mountain. Stray is coming out on July 19th and it's going to be a day one release on the higher tiers of PlayStation Plus. That's really exciting news. Maybe we'll see more day one releases from third party studios in the future. I watched a new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI and it's coming out in Summer of 2023. Take the news with a grain of salt because delays happen constantly in the gaming industry. Shockingly, my prediction for the remake of Resident Evil 4 was accurate and it's coming out on March 24th, 2023. That's less than a year away. It's really good news for horror fans. Speaking of horror, I was also pleasantly surprised to see a new trailer and release date for The Callisto Protocol. Barring delays, it's releasing on December 2nd, 2022. That means you can get scared for Christmas! I was also glad to see a trailer and release year for Street Fighter 6. That one slipped my mind entirely when I was planned my predictions. We're getting Street Fighter 6 some time in 2023. I actually think it will come out next year. Fighting games don't usually have excessive delays compared to other genres. Also, PlayStation fans will have a chance to play Tunic on September 27th. I didn't enjoy the game very much, but it's very popular and many of you will probably have fun shredding enemies with a sword wielding fox. Let's move on to my predictions for the Xbox showcase. Big Announcements for Xbox Game Pass Microsoft needs serious good will from the public. 2022 is becoming a very disappointing year for Xbox consoles and Game Pass is the primary thing keeping them afloat. I could imagine a number of major announcements, including a discounted family plan, Game Pass support on the Steam Deck, and more day one releases. It might also be possible to see Ubisoft+ on Xbox consoles. Don't get too excited because it won't be part of Xbox Game Pass. It would probably be a separate subscription, but that's still good news because you could play brand new titles from Ubisoft on day one for $15 instead of $60 or $70. A Release Date for Hellblade II It seems like Senua's Saga was baking in the oven for quite a while. We've already seen a detailed trailer and a release date should be coming soon. I'm not going to guarantee a 2022 debut, but it's certainly possible. Hellblade II might be one of the very few Xbox exclusive games for 2022. I didn't care about the first game, but the sequel might be worth a shot, especially because it's coming to Game Pass on day one. More Details About Fable We're bound to hear more news about Fable one of these days. So far, Fable's only marketing was a short teaser. Microsoft might provide updates, including a new trailer, story points, gameplay descriptions, and more. I wouldn't even rule out a general release window. 2024 sounds like a potential release year. Gameplay Footage for Redfall Microsoft already said Redfall is being delayed to 2023, but they could reveal gameplay footage. At this point, we don't know much about this game except players will be killing vampires with guns. Maybe Bethesda will talk about co-op details, world building, combat options, enemy types, etc. I will be surprised if we don't hear something about Redfall. Major News for Starfield Most likely, Starfield will take center stage, even though it was also delayed to 2023. Bethesda will probably showcase a lot of information, including a new trailer, world building, character creation, and all kinds of elements. Hopefully, Microsoft will give the audience something to anticipate for the future. Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo are Coming to Xbox Consoles This idea feels obvious. Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo were timed exclusives for the PlayStation 5 and that window is probably done. Both of those games were created by Bethesda affiliates, which means they can release on Xbox Game Pass at some point. Xbox fans probably won't have to wait much longer for those titles. A Release Date for Party Animals I think the entire world forgot about this party game. Honestly, I'm pretty sure Party Animals is coming to Xbox consoles and Game Pass soon. It's been in development for a surprisingly long time and it already faced one or more delays. Everyone should be open minded about this one. It’s like watching a bunch of stuffed animals pummeling each other. Party Animals is a smaller game that took a long time to create and a release date feels imminent. More Details About Contraband Microsoft released a brief teaser last year and that's all. Gamers don't know anything about Contraband, but it doesn't seem like the development was in turmoil. I'm pretty sure Everwild and Perfect Dark are years away because they both have a lot of drama behind the scenes. On that note, it seems like we should hear more information about Contraband, like story elements, gameplay mechanics, etc. We might even get lucky and see a new trailer. Regardless, it makes sense to mention something at the showcase. A New Trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 We're definitely not getting this game in 2022. In fact, it might not release in 2023 either, but we could see a new trailer anyway. Obsidian was staying under the radar for almost a year and they're bound to reveal something new in the near future. Like I said, Microsoft needs to give the public something or they're going to lose interest in the Xbox Series X. Gamers will assume it's another situation like the Xbox One. Remember this famous phrase? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Might Have a Chance to Shine GSC Game World has a uniquely horrible predicament. They're a Ukrainian developer who was forced to stop production and seek help during the Russian invasion. Apparently, they resumed development, which is incredibly brave, ambitious, and surprising. Maybe this is wishful thinking, but I could picture S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 getting a big showcase, including details about the game itself and the studio's perseverance. I certainly don't want any exploitation, although an uplifting story about hope and how gaming brings people together would make sense. Let's wish the best for Ukrainian game developers and their families. All right! I got some things right about the PlayStation State of Play, so maybe I’ll get lucky with the Xbox showcase too. What are your Xbox predictions? Are you excited for anything else during the Summer Games Fest? Leave a comment. Thanks a lot for visiting, be safe, and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Good night!
